Visit to Naworth Castle

Visit to Naworth on 26th June is confirmed and those attending should inform PLHS chairman of there intention as soon as possible and no later than the 13th. June.

The tour will start at 10.00am and lasts about 90 minutes.  The cost will be £15, including coffee and biscuits, payable on the day.  There is no parking at the Castle (not even Blue Badge) and there is a short walk from the appointed car park.  The Castle itself is a listed building and there is no wheel chair access or lifts.  "......... there are a number of steps to be negotiated to reach the main Great Hall and other areas on the same level, one of which is a curved stone staircase with handrail, or a wide stone staircase of about 15 steps with handrail with two half landings."

No arrangements have been made for lunch or visiting Lanercost Priory but there are good facilities available at Lanercost which is a 5 minute drive down the road.  The Priory is under the stewardship of English Heritage and therefore if you wish to visit please remember your Membership Card.  You can of course take lunch without visiting the Priory.  Adult Admission to the Priory is £3.60 (£3.20 to Concessions).

All we need to complete another enjoyable visit is a fine day!
